A Message from The Director

Greetings! Today we are on the edge of a dangerous precipice when it comes to our nation's museums. Statistics show that people rate “visit a museum” below “take a trip to the mall,” “attend a sporting event” and “grill out with friends.” Luckily, museums in the United States have managed to hang on to their spot above “see a play” when it comes to people deciding how to spend their entertainment dollar.

The mission of The Museum is to make people less afraid of museums and art. We're all just regular folk who can enjoy a pretty painting or a death mask. Show me someone who doesn't delight in a cast-iron bank from the late nineteenth century and I'll show you someone who's dead inside.

But there's a lot more to The Museum than just art. For example, while at The Museum you can:

•Enjoy a freshly grilled panini sandwich

•Buy stuff at The Store

•Enjoy an enormous coffee

•Breastfeed your baby in our Mothers & Others Lounge

•Take pictures of the city skyline

•Listen to a lecture about Leonardo Da Vinci and his mysterious Code

•Attend an opening and listen to smooth jazz while sipping chardonnay

The purpose of this website is to showcase all the neat stuff we have and exciting things we do and get you to come visit us. We're ready to take your admission money six days a week!

The Museum does depend upon generous support from a variety of sources, mostly corporations and some extremely rich people. But then there are people like you. Maybe you would like to give us some money and participate in our success. You can donate money outright (Please, no gifts under $50) or you can purchase a membership at varying levels. Membership ensures you will receive mail from us, which is a perk if you are old or lonely. It also gets free admission and invitations to a few parties every year. Its a nice way for your Average Joe to feel like a somebody! Even better than donation or membership is willing your money to us after you die. It's kind of like becoming immortal, at least until the cash runs out.

Cheers!

The Director
